SmartWatch Alternative – The HTC Mini+

With the world of Smart Watches heralding the possible future of mobile devices, some manufacturers in the research and development of such devices are trying some interesting alternatives.

The HTC Mini+ follows in this endeavor, using Bluetooth to field calls, view texts and e-mails, and trigger your a HTC phone’s camera from a distance.

The Mini+ also adds an IR blaster to function as a remote control for Power Point presentations and TV, and a laser pointer.

Outfitted with a bite-size 1.5-inch 128×128-pixel OLED screen, the Mini+ is a surprisingly large device that stands 4.7 inches tall by 1.6 inches wide and 0.3 inch deep. The Mini+ works with the current range of HTC One, Desire, and Butterfly models.

With the Sony SmartWatch 2 and Pebble being fully compatible with HTC devices, I doubt the HTC Mini+ will take off, but the IR remote, camera trigger and HTC Media Link controller could be useful for some; for the handsome cost of £54 – much cheaper than a watch.
