Dali on “What’s My Line?”
Friday, August 20th, 2010I just stumbled upon this gem, thanks to Steven Fry’s Twitter feed.
This ten minute clip is drawn from the famous 1950s game show, and it’s quite surreal. I don’t use the word surreal loosely: the special guest is Salvador Dali.
The Big Bang Theory Time Machine
Friday, August 13th, 2010I’m currently watching a marathon of The Big Bang Theory and this particular episode is without doubt my favourite
The guys but the time machine prop from the 1960 movie The Time Machine on eBay.
Groom Kills Guests at Wedding
Thursday, August 12th, 2010
Read the following quote from BBC News USA/Canada and then answer the following question.
Three family members at a wedding in Turkey have been accidentally shot dead by the groom firing an AK-47 rifle in celebration.
Question: Why would you have an AK-47 at a wedding?!
Congratulations Lisa Simpson-Parkfield
Monday, August 2nd, 2010The years just fly by don’t they? In 1995 an episode of The Simpsons aired for the first time called ‘Lisa’s Wedding’.

They grow up so darned quick
Bunny Sugar Lumps
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010
I’m reposting this from Girly Bubble on behalf of Sarah
Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Poor bunny! These little bunny shaped sugar lumps are so precious they should be in a stop-motion animated feature about the dreary malaise of living in the modern world. In the end of course they would meet their inevitable fate, being dunked in coffee for the edification of sadistic cuteitarians. But isn’t it worth it? Aren’t we worth it, slogging through this life, searching high and low for cute? We deserve to have cuteness be a part of our everyday routine, and if that means sacrificing a few sugar bunnies along the way, so be it.
I stress the above was NOT written by me!
Apple ‘Antennagate’ Explained By Taiwanese
Monday, July 19th, 2010Perhaps Steve Jobs will wish he’d used a Taiwanese production company rather than Chinese Foxconn for the iPhone4 after this piece of CGI genius.
The blue halo is Steve’s ‘Reality Distortion Field’
Plus! Watch how Steve cures the grip of death with a Light Sabre.
I follow a number of celebrities on Twitter. Who doesn’t? However the best celeb I follow as of today is Christopher Walken – walken20. Now I’m pretty sure the person running the Twitter feed isn’t Christopher. In fact I’m pretty sure the person running it has never even met Christopher, never mind gotten permission from him to run his Twitter.
The reason I like him though is because of the way he writes the feed. He writes in the style of Walken’s speech!
Example:
Alright… one for the road… http://urltea.com/nzy and then bed, but first… a cookie. OATMEAL.

5 Reasons Why Britain Keep Failing Eurovision
Sunday, May 30th, 2010Firstly I want to make it perfectly clear that the British performers are largely not at fault. Josh Dubovie did a good job under the conditions he was forced to perform under. “What conditions”, I hear you ask? Here are five reasons that I think are hurting the British chances of every winning the Eurovision Song Contest ever again.
- The British selection committee. It is the job of this panel to choose the best song and performer that matches the music style of the time in Europe as a whole. However they keep choosing songs that are standard British ditis and not Euro-hits. Music tastes on the other side of the channel are very different.
- Prior promotion. The German winner this year (Lena) was all over European radio weeks before the final. Similarly maNga (the Turkish entry) are a well established Rock/Hip-hop/Techno group, known throughout Europe. In contrast, the first time I heard the British entry was on the final night because I missed the selection programme and I don’t listen to BBC Radio 2.
- Experience. We seem to be opting for ‘newbies’. Performers who don’t have much experience at performing to large audiences. The whole of Europe is a pretty big venue and something a 19 year old doesn’t have the experience to handle. (Lena is an exception as she has been performing her song across Germany to promote her attempt). Otherwise the competition usually comprises of a dual/triple album rock band, a classically trained Violinist who plays for the Pope, and of course a Transvestite Diva with more confidence and charisma than 100 Lady Gaga’s! Suddenly our 19 year old saviour is a shrinking violet.
- ‘Your Country Needs You’. Honestly I have a lot of respect for Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ legacy as a fantastic composer for theatre but he knows bugger all about Euro-hits. Mix that with the British public only being given a choice of 6 performances… and the fact we are relying on THE BRITISH PUBLIC!!! X Factor this aint!
- We have no friends. I hate to admit it but the calls for Euro-fixing do seem to be true, especially when it comes to countries not liking Britain. This year was much better for fixing between Balkan States and Scandinavia, but it hasn’t helped our little island much. Perhaps because we haven’t got involved in The European Union as much as we were expected to, and that we are far too deep in the pocket of the US who, really, nobody likes.
So what can we do about it? The only way I can see Britain winning the Eurovision Song Contest is if we adopt the Euro, sack off Obama, and resurrect Michael Jackson to write a song for Take That to perform.
Possible?
Hell, if an Irish winner from X years ago can come back and still come in ahead of us, and a Welsh kid can perform for Cyprus and also beat us then I reckon anything is possible. Bring back Michael Ball singing a duet with Katrina. The Waves can play the music and Bucks Fizz can perform backing lyrics. Sure-fire win right there.
PS I think Graham Norton is a great replacement for Sir Terry. Its taken me a year to decide, but he can stay.
Technology With A (Touch) Sense Of Humour
Monday, April 12th, 2010Someone has a sense of humour. Whille it turns out that this is only an x86 Emulation of Win ‘95 and not actually a bootable operating system on the newly launched iPad, its still fun to see
