I’ve found myself becoming a bit of a Culture Whore over the last few days.
StumbleUpon and The Fancy to name but a few, are fantastic websites to see what’s going out there in the Pop Culture world.
Check them out and look me up to see what I’ve been checking out.

Here’s a teaser…

At the moment that there is a new tidbit of information about iPhone5 every day. Each one seemingly more tenuous than the last; but finally CNET UK have a juicy find today. It centers around job postings for an influx of temporary workers to help sell Apple’s iPhone, right around when the iPhone 5 is expected to hit.
The post (there are several in various regions around the UK) seeks an “Apple iPhone sales specialist” to work for two and a half months in Apple retail stores beginning in mid-August for what recruiter Gekko calls “an exciting project”,
“Our client, Apple, one of the largest consumer electronic hardware and software companies in the world are seeking full-time iPhone Sales Staff for an exciting project to work 5 days a week (Tuesday-Saturday) for the period 16th August – 29th October within key retail stores”
Gekko notes that those who get the gig need to attend a four-day “training event” during the second week of August, presumably to be briefed on any new product information.

Taken directly from Apple Insider:
iOS, the mobile operating system that powers Apple’s popular iPhone and iPad devices, offers more protection than its Android counterpart, the security experts at Symantec have concluded in a newly published report.
Symantec this week published “A Window Into Mobile Device Security,” a 23-page document that details the security approaches employed by Apple and Google in their respective mobile operating systems. It also offers a closer look at past and possible future security holes found in the iOS and Android platforms.

Suggymoto.com is a very personal site which mainly showcases my interests and occasional artwork.
Among Pop Culture themes, you will find Tech/Science News, Rants, and other such waffle.
I’ve made a decision today (20/06/2011) to start using my blog in a more personal ‘diary of events’ kind of way, as well as the current use for posting random tidbits of information; which are more based around mass appeal and bringing in the page hits.
Although I feel that some people share FAR too much on personal blogs, I do think that a contribution on a personal level can make the Internet a much richer place and add some variation. Far too many blogs now only offer reposts of other people’s work. Take Google RSS readers’ ‘Recommended’ feed. The same story’s/videos/art constantly pop up time and time again. What I wouldn’t give for some true originality!
So here is my contribution to the world.
Suggymoto.com will be my thoughts and what I’ve been up to.
Retro.suggymoto.com will continue to showcase my original artwork.
Please feel free to drop by every now and then and check out what I’ve been doing and thinking.

I think the iPhone5 rumour mill just cranked up a gear with today’s announced plans for a new mobile payments and marketing joint venture by Ronan Dunne, CEO of O2 Telefonica in the UK.
As some are aware, one of the big expected hardware changes with the iPhone5 is the inclusion of NFC (Near Field Communication) which, on a basic level, allows people to pay for things by simply swiping their phone which has had their debit/credit card details entered onto it previously.
With the announcement that the top three UK networks (O2, Vodafone and Everything Everywhere) are going to be working together to make NFC available in the UK; only one thing stands to reason. There will be a phone launching in the early new year (the deadline set out for the joint venture) which supports NFC. The one phone that is bound to launch on all three networks? iPhone5.
Tenuous, but feasible?

Jon Stewart:
Maybe we should always show pictures. Bin Laden, pictures of our wounded service people, pictures of maimed innocent civilians. We can only make decisions about war if we see what war actually is — and not as a video game where bodies quickly disappear leaving behind a shiny gold coin.

Microsoft are expected to name their first WP7 feature update “Mango”. Does this mean that they are following on from Google who name each Android update after a sweet treat; but instead using fruit? Surely this isn’t the best thought out plan. What happens when they get to Apple? Is that even legally allowed? How about Orange? I’m sure the mobile network will enjoy it, but it’s competitors won’t. I don’t want a Banana phone personally. Too many sexual entendre’s there. Passion Fruit?
The less said, the better!

The Wall Street Journal has weighed in on rumors of Apple’s smaller iPhone, and citing “people familiar with the matter” the publication says that the rumors are likely true. One such familiar person reportedly saw a device half the size of the iPhone 4, bearing the codename “N97,” and said that the handset will be only about half the size of the original, and at only around half the price too. Amazingly, those anonymous sources continued to divulge information, expressing the idea that Apple could finally make its MobileMe cloud service suite free, and that it just might be the platform from which Apple could finally launch a streaming music platform and lessen the need for all those gigabytes of flash storage in your pocket. We’ll let you know if or when any of that happens, okay?
